HTTP/1.1 has powered the Web for more than 15 years, and it is beyond long in the tooth. It was built for Web pages that were much simpler than they are today, with many complex resources coming from a variety of sources splattered across the Web. In February, the IETF approved HTTP/2, which is going to supercharge the Web when--and if--it is widely adopted.
